This book surprised me with how good it was. It is the story of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the part that was played in the development of the atomic bomb during WWII by a very secret community in which the workers were completely in the dark about what they were working on. I think it is a story that should be read if one really wants to know and understand the times and circumstances of developing a weapon that now threatens us all. In no way should this be seen as a rebuke to anyone; it is just a piece of history that needs to be recognized and understood.
